Eating Right...changing America's bad habits
The benefits of a healthy lifestyle are enormous: feeling good, energetic and young, lowering cholesterol levels, losing weight in order to find our ideal body shape, reversing heart disease, avoiding Alzheimer’s, cancer, diabetes, kidney stones, stroke, impotency… and avoiding the need for many complicated pharmaceutical drugs…the list goes on and is long.
Americans in general however spend billions supporting a toxic food supply and then billions more on drugs to hopefully combat the diseases such a diet causes. Over 100,000 people a year die from unintended reactions to drugs. Many more die from preventable sickness and ill health.
The distinctions between making a profit and promoting good health are worryingly blurred. We essentially and generally live a very privileged life of affluence supported by corrupt establishments that do not have our best interests in mind!
The food America has been buying has led to our biggest problems today. We need to change our old habits and realize the fact that when we buy our food from local farmers we are laying the foundation for big social and political change. We must stop giving our dollars to the large corporations that dilute and pollute our food supply. We need to use our dollars to support a food supply we can positively influence, observe and taste.
The thing is, our choices count. How we spend our dollars matters! We really need to focus our affluence on making sure that what is most affordable and available benefits us most.
IF YOU CARE and if you want to make a significant difference in how you live your life (comfortable or not), you need to make good food choices!
Support local famers, organic and humane ranchers and farmers, and buy organic where necessary.
