The benefits of being present...fueling our bodies & brains.
Yesterday is history. Tomorrow is a mystery. Today is a gift. That is why they call it the present...Enjoy it!
We Americans typically spend too much time indoors using our brains to juggle quick, fleeting pieces of information, seldom savoring the quiet parts of the day. Our minds are focused on the many machines we have come to rely on...machines which define us, our present and our future.
Just like the food we consume, nature offers us the greatest health benefits.
Spend some time in nature and see if you notice a change in your ability to concentrate and stay present. I read about five neuroscientists who spent a week in remote southern Utah, rafting the San Juan River, camping in the canyons. A primitive trip with a sophisticated goal: to understand how heavy use of digital devices and other technology changes how we think and behave, and how a retreat into nature might reverse those effects.
I posted this about half a year ago and want to share it again to remind us of the importance of connecting with the quieter, more natural and healthiest part of the day. Check this out...
