FarmAid.org ~ Long may you run.
There are many individuals connecting with many others in order to make important, needed, good change for the benefit of us all. It is because of these individuals we have the opportunity for a brighter future.
One of these hard working organizations is Farm Aid. For the past 25 years, Farm Aid has been fighting to keep families on their land in order to continue growing our food.
Willie Nelson, Neil Young and John Mellencamp organized the first Farm Aid concert in 1985 to raise awareness about the loss of family farms and to raise funds to help families keep their small farms. They have since raised more than $37 million while working to safeguard a strong and resilient family farm system of agriculture.
Dave Matthews joined the Board of Directors in 2001. Watch this short video of him explaining why family farms are something "worth fighting for."
"In order for family farmers to thrive we have to create more markets for them, giving more people the opportunity to access family farm food. Farm Aid fosters connections between farmers and eaters by growing and strengthening local and regional markets and working to get family farm food in urban neighborhoods, grocery stores, restaurants, schools and other public institutions."
