Ageing Gracefully and Comfortably
Whether we take care of children, elderly parents, other relatives in need, or people in our community, care giving requires a lot of time, energy, patience, love and understanding.
Less and less people age gracefully these days due to the lifestyle we have become accustomed to ~ not much exercise coupled with lots of processed, convenient, fast food. Growing old has become a process of doctors' appointments, drugs and managing pain. More than two-thirds of our health care costs go to treating chronic illnesses among our older population. Chronic diseases are not an inevitable part of aging. Many chronic illnesses are preventable. However, at least 80% of older Americans today are living with at least one chronic condition and 50% have at least two.
We all want to age gracefully and live independently for as long as possible. Please know that the best way to ensure we have grace and independence tomorrow is by eating truly well today. Eating well not only creates and maintains a healthy mind and body, it gives us the energy and vitality to live an active life, which in turn makes every day a pleasure. Exercises such as tai-chi and strength building have proven to be effective in increasing strength and balance which helps to reduce chances of fall-related illnesses.
Love your loved ones by helping them to live a truly healthy lifestyle...eating mainly fruits and vegetables and getting exercise daily.
