Simple Snacks to Fight Fatigue
With our packed schedules and stressed-out daily lives, fighting fatigue during the day is critical. The quick and dirty 'up' from coffee or a major sugar rush will always leave us feeling empty and low and may even leave us feeling depressed, heavy and with a headache.
Here are some nutrient-rich mid-day snacks which are naturally packed with energy, clarity and true alertness:
Wheat Bran Cereal:Fiber helps us fight fat ~ and also helps us feel more awake. Scientists credit this and other improvements (increased energy, less emotional stress, fewer cognitive difficulties) with better digestive health.
Watermelon: One of the easiest, nutrient-dense foods to eat right now! For excellent health, hydrate your body with nutrient-dense foods! See our good-to-know watermelon info & recipes.
Pumpkin Seeds: 1/4c equals half of the recommended daily intake of Magnesium. A lack of magnesium requires more oxygen uptake during physical activity ~ tiring our bodies out faster.
Whole Grain Crackers or a cup of Oat meal: complex carbs are essential to boosting energy.
Dark Chocolate: Polyphenols increase levels of happiness, boosting brain chemicals (serotonin) ~ thus reducing feelings of fatigue. Be careful not to overindulge as you may find yourself becoming fatigued just by carrying the extra weight on your body around!
Yogurt: Rich in probiotics. 1 million people in the US suffer from Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS). An imbalance in microorganisms in the digestive tract is partially to blame. A truly healthy Diet & Lifestyle will help prevent and reverse such dibilitating diseases.
Walnuts: Patients with CFS have low levels of Omega 3 fatty acids. It is believed that Omega 3's help to relieve depression symptoms which may contribute to CFS....
It is a never ending cycle: eat poorly, eat crap, and our bodies won't be able to function properly and will begin to stop working well and become infected with disease. GREAT HEALTH comes directly from what you choose to put in your mouth.
