The problem with Antibiotics & Factory Farmed Meat
If asked: Can a hamburger make my child's medicine ineffective? Know that the answer is an astounding YES (unless your child only eats humanely raised, non-antibiotic injected meats.)
This is a very serious problem because all this antibiotic use creates dangerous antibiotic-resistant bacteria that spread to humans and cause the antibiotics to stop working.
An Institute of Medicine report found in 1998(!), when agri-antibiotic consumption was at about 50%, that farm antibiotic use is unnecessary.
The Pew Campaign on Human Health & Industrial Farming is sponsoring a petition to the U.S. Food & Drug Administration and President Obama to finish addressing this issue.
Please let the FDA & our Government know they have a responsibility to meet their deadlines, especially when it directly affects us ~ and the health of our kids. Click here to sign the petition.
Buy meat from America's small farmers and ranchers who raise animals humanely and without the incessant use of drugs.
