Eat more not less
Our bodies are meant to graze...to eat more rather than less. When we deprive our bodies of food we start to retain fat as a way of protecting ourselves from famine and end up eating more than we need at every meal.
This is why snacking is so important! Snacking enables us to stoke weight-loss while satisfying our hunger.
A few of our favorite, easy, seriously healthy snacks:
Walnuts, as reported in our Superfoods List: These nuts are one of the best sources of plant protein and are loaded with omega 3s. Walnuts are great for boosting memory and moods. They protect us from heart disease, diabetes, reduces cholesterol levels and combats cancer. Eating a handful a day will reduce your chance of getting a heart attack by 15% and as much as 50%. In 2004 the FDA approved labeling walnut products as being heart healthy.
Carrot sticks are refreshing, easy and tast great dipped in hummus! But buy them organic and whole and slice them yourself. Those pre-packaged baby carrots, people seem to buy in bulk for their kids, are rinsed in bleach before they are packaged for resale!
