Please help protect our struggling family farmers
Federal funding to support healthy food projects in our community is being threatened with budget cuts, while around the country, big food companies are reaping profits on the backs of struggling family farmers.
Food & Water Watch are asking our senators to stand up and protect California's farmers, ranchers and communities. Right now, big food companies have the power to determine the kinds of food available in our supermarkets and corner stores, as well as what farmers get paid for their products. When smaller farms are treated unfairly by these big companies, they go out of business. California has lost half its family cattle ranches in the last 20 years.
On April 28th, Food & Water Watch held press events in San Francisco, Los Angeles and Fresno to deliver a letter to Senators Boxer and Feinstein asking them to be champions for good, fair food. Now they are entering the next phase of the campaign and taking this message statewide with a huge petition drive.
The petitions will be delivered to the senators' offices in the next week.
If we can get our CA Senators to stand up for good food and family farms, ranchers and communities, maybe other states will listen and stand up too!
Help make a difference: Sign the petition here.
In the face of budget threats, now is the time to build the movement for good food into a vital and powerful statewide political movement.
