Why sardines need to be on your shopping list
Sardines are one of the healthiest fish in the sea. They are rich in omega-3 oils, rich in protein, good cholesterol, selenium, vitamin D & B12 and, if you eat the soft bones, they are a great souorce of calcium and fluoride.
Ari Le Veux explains: The Pacific sardine season runs January through August. Look for bright, sturdy, clean fish with clear eyes. Then take them home and rip their heads off.
In a great article titled The Sardine's Big Comeback: Why this lowly little fish should be at the top of your shopping list, Ari explains a bit about the history and a lot about how to cook these healthy, inexpensive, nutrient dense fish.
