Why TEENAGERS are more likely to OVEREAT
In her article, Super Size Me? Teens More Susceptible to Large Portions than Younger Children by Elaine Watson, she explains why teenagers are more likely to overreat when presented with excessive amounts of food than younger kids.
"In the content of the growing family obesity in the U.S., larger portion sizes of energy-dense, nutrient poor foods have increased in parallel with energy intake at meals of adolescents and middle-age kids."
It is ALL about portion size! It is easy to eat big helpings of simple, empty carbs like white rice, white breads & white pastas. Instead, offer brown rice, brown breads and whole grain pastas which break down more slowly in our bodies and leave us feeling fuller faster.
Teens eat with their eyes, not with their stomachs! Offer them energy-dense, nutrient-rich food choices...always.
